As part of the Memorandum of Understanding, a delegation from the Korea Carbon Capture and Sequestration R&D Center (KCRC) came to Edinburgh to meet the directors of the SCCS. The MoU is an agreement first of its kind to be signed between UK and South Korean CCS researchers which establishes a three-years collaboration between the two research centres.
Dr Hyungwoong Ahn, of the University of Edinburgh’s Carbon Capture Group, highlighted how the meeting between the CCS experts of the two research organisation helped define the pathway for their future collaboration.
During their visit the Korean researchers had also the chance to meet the industry experts at Doosan Babcock’s CO2 capture test facilities at Renfrew, where they were given an overview of the company’s post-combustion capture process under development.
